dear august baby,

you are three months old! THREE MONTHS OLD!! have you really been around here for that long, baby boy?

i look at you as i’m typing this and you’re looking around the room. you’re actually three months and seven days old today. and today, you are wearing the university of texas longhorns onesie that your auntie angel got you. and you’re extra smiley…and whiney…at the same time. it’s funny how you’re able to switch it up like you do.

of course, you’ve been “around” for over a year now but you’ve been breathing fresh air, making eye contact, and sharing smiles for us to see for three months now.

i took august with me to the laundry facility and since it’s in another building, we have to walk outside to get to it.

he LOVES outside. it’s indescribable the feeling i experience getting to watch his little eyes discover things for the first time that…things that i know he still cannot comprehend but is still in wonder of.

he seems quite captivated by the contrast and web of leaves against a bright sky. he’s often attracted to them and just gazes at them for the longest time.

he is his mother’s son.

right now, he is snoozing in my lap after having finished breakfast.

i love, love, love being a mom to this little boy.

happy three months, little prince.

currently using the internet at safeway, but when it’s working at home, i’ll have more updates.

we’ve had a busy, busy, busy past few weeks but it’s all been good.

having a baby doesn’t leave much time to focus on a whole lot else but we’re doing our best and definitely not complaining. he’s wonderful and we are definitely having the time of our life.

the past few weeks, august has gotten to experience quite a few firsts– his first extended trip somewhere (we went to los angeles to visit some family), his first halloween, his first rain last week, first pair of jeans, his first friend’s birthday party, and his first election. of course, he was oblivious of, i’m sure, mostly ALL OF THAT but, it is my job as his mommy to remember and get excited about every little first…even if he won’t remember a thing.

i am listening to the album i played frequently for august while he was in utero.

watching him sit in front of me and kick his feet and look at me as the music plays brings about some of the most amazing feelings ever.

surreal…beautiful…truly indescribable.

i have a little, tiny, beautiful miracle.

thank you, Jesus.

i realize that i am REALLY behind on these. better late than never, right?

i also realize the timestamp on this. i, obviously, cannot sleep. but insomnia is usually good for productivity, so here ya’ go.

dear august,

today, you are two months and five days old. you are currently laying in my lap, fresh out of a bath you shared with mommy, and you’re sleepily nursing. you’re wearing white terry cloth pee jays that have embroidered bees on them and say, “tiny little bee.”

my tiny little bee. your fists are up on either side of your head. this seems to be a favorite position for you. that and when you sleep on your side with your face all schnuggled against me.

last night, you snuggled against me and daddy on the other side of me. i was a mommy sandwich. i couldn’t feel any more special or loved.

HAPPY TWO MONTH BIRTHDAY TO AUGUST!

and HAPPY 1000th DAY ANNIVERSARY TO UUUUSSS!!!

august is sleeping in his bassinet right now. he has been sleeping in there for the past few nights.

of course he gets up around four-five and is probably more awake than he was the times before that i’ll feed and lay him back in there…so then, i usually just coax him to lay with me and sleep so i can get a few more hours in and we don’t have neighbors banging against the walls at four am because the baby is screaming at the top of his lungs.

we had august’s second month check up today. everything looked good.

he is 10 lbs 13 oz and 22 1/4″ (from 5 lbs 13 oz and 20″ when he was born). he’s close to doubled his weight. he really needs to calm down– he’s growing wayyy too fast!

we also got a couple of his vaccinations today. he handled them like a champ. seriously. i think i handled them worse than he did. i literally didn’t watch and, instead, buried my face in the side of his and hummed in his ear to comfort him…of course, now that i think of it…i was probably pretty much pathetically comforting myself as well.
